Overview
Began in 2019 as my own Basra guide app. In 2023 a company contracted me to develop it into Visit Basra: a cross-platform tourism app guiding visitors through Basra's hotels, restaurants, and historical sites. Published on Google Play.
01The challenge
Visitors had to gather hotel, restaurant, and landmark information from scattered sources rather than browse it in one guide.
02How it was built
- 1Started from my 2019 Basra guide app and developed it further under a 2023 contract.
- 2Built one Flutter codebase targeting both iOS and Android to ship faster with a small budget.
- 3Structured content into hotels, restaurants, and historical sites with location and imagery.
- 4Optimised for low-bandwidth conditions common on the ground.
03The result
Shipped to production and published on Google Play as a working city guide.
